After 12 years of daily pain and medication, following a repetitive disc injury from lifting my disabled father and then my growing child, I had given up hoping for a recovery.
I’d had physiotherapy numerous times and tried so many others classes and therapies to ease the pain but nothing worked.
Following a few spinal injections, I was due to have surgery but whilst on the waiting list I was told by a friend to try Richards class. I attended sceptical and prepared to be bored throughout but willing to give anything a go.
I was anything but bored! Richards attentive teaching was just what I needed. He immediately repositioned my posture so I had a starting point then explained with all the detail needed each move, how to do it and which part of the body it was targeting.
His reassuring nature made me feel at ease and although I could barely do the moves at first I continued to come every week as he said I would get the hang of it as my body rebalances itself as I regain control.
4 months in I had got the hang of all the moves and noticed such an improvement that I cancelled my surgery.
A year on and I’ve not had to use crutches once, I’m only on a low dose of pain medication and have been discharged from the Neurologist outpatient department.
I honestly can’t recommend or thank Richard enough as it is mostly his own created exercises that made the most difference.
Best wishes.
Zoe
Thankyou so much for your Friday Pilates classes. They have been so much fun and helped my back greatly over the last few months.
You have a wonderful sense of humour and I admire how well you know your subject.
You've been a great instructor.
I'm not a morning person so your classes must be good to have got me out of bed at 7am on a Friday.
Thanks again and take care.
Rachel
